Dehradun: Addressing a public rally in Dehradun, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is actively building the “lines of its destiny” through rapid infrastructure development, calling it “Modi’s guarantee.”
He stated that 21st-century India is entering an era of modern infrastructure that was once unimaginable. Major projects, including the Amritsar Industrial Corridor, are opening new avenues of progress and raising public expectations.
According to the Prime Minister, these projects will save time, reduce travel costs, and lower transportation expenses. They have also generated employment for thousands of workers and created opportunities for engineers and other sectors.
He emphasized that such infrastructure will greatly benefit tourism in Uttarakhand, especially in key destinations like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mussoorie, and the Char Dham Yatra. He added that the state is rapidly emerging as a hub for winter tourism, winter sports, and the “Wed in India” initiative, along with increasing participation in winter religious pilgrimages.
PM Modi highlighted that the government is undertaking unprecedented work in infrastructure. Earlier, annual spending on such projects across the country did not even reach ₹2 lakh crore, whereas today it exceeds ₹12 lakh crore. In Uttarakhand alone, projects worth over ₹2.25 lakh crore are currently underway.
He noted that in the past, generations in Uttarakhand villages waited for roads, but now connectivity is reaching remote areas, reviving once-deserted villages.
Using a metaphor, the Prime Minister said that just as people look at palm lines to predict the future, a nation’s “lines of destiny” are its roads, highways, railways, and expressways. He said India is committed to building these pathways of development.
Referring to the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, he offered prayers to Panch Badri, Panch Kedar, Panch Prayag, and local deities, including Santla Mata. He credited the blessings of Maa Daat Kali for the successful completion of major projects.
Marking Uttarakhand’s 26th year, he said the third decade of this century will belong to the state—a vision he first expressed after visiting Kedarnath Temple. He added that the new projects will also benefit regions like Ghaziabad, Baghpat, Baraut, Shamli, and Saharanpur.
On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, PM Modi paid tribute to B. R. Ambedkar. He stated that the government’s decisions are aimed at fully implementing the Constitution and added that after the abrogation of Article 370, the Constitution now applies uniformly across the country.
He praised Uttarakhand for upholding constitutional values and said the government is committed to delivering true social justice to the poor and marginalized, in line with Dr. Ambedkar’s vision, who strongly advocated modern infrastructure.
Concluding his speech, the Prime Minister extended greetings to citizens on various festivals marking the New Year in different parts of the country, including Baisakhi and Bohag Bihu.
